Leasing, sales begin for Kelowna’s Bernard Block

Mission Group has kicked off pre-leasing for an office tower and sales for the second condominium tower at its downtown Bernard Block development in Kelowna. Bertram’s condos will join the Brooklyn condominiums at the master-planned, mixed-use project.

Development plans for a Lululemon (LULU-Q) mega-complex in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats neighbourhood will go to a public hearing next week. The 500,000-square-foot Lululemon Athletica mothership would be more than four times the size of their current Kitsilano headquarters.

A City of Ottawa planning report in support of a 500-home development on a gravel pit in Barrhaven says the province’s ministry in charge of natural resources confirmed the site has been mined of its sand and gravel.

Robinson Village Ltd. Partnership’s controversial plan to build four mid-rise apartment buildings that would add more than 300 rental units to a small Ottawa neighbourhood is set to go before the city’s planning committee next week.

The City of Vancouver has begun rolling out a new incentive program to encourage the development of rental housing projects, but the  looming 28-storey tower proposed at 2538 Birch St. will get more push-back than any of the others.

The proposal for an arena at CF Lime Ridge mall is almost dead at Hamilton city hall. City councillors voted 11-3 Wednesday to walk away from the idea put forward by mall owner Cadillac Fairview and Bulldogs hockey team owner Michael Andlauer.

Four lots with single-family homes in the Strathcona neighbourhood could soon be the site of a mixed-use seven-storey building by Beljan Developments. It would include commercial space on the ground level and up to 60 residential units.

The City of Fredericton has approved two eight-storey apartment buildings for the Sunshine Gardens neighbourhood across from Odell Park. Fredericton’s planning advisory committee approved the project through a variance, a process that doesn’t require the approval of city council.

Edmonton’s housing market isn’t moving much but Jennifer Lucas, the chair of the Realtors Association of Edmonton, says the biggest hurdle for homebuyers and sellers is the mortgage stress test.
